Arnold Stansby & Co is one of the oldest member firms of the London Stock Exchange. Our origins lie in industrial 1870’s Manchester where the company was established to provide execution services on the cities exchange. Today all the traditional services remain, with the addition of our cutting-edge online valuation facilities and multi-channel dealing services.

We take pride in supporting our clients and helping them achieve their goals, whatever stage of their financial journey it may be. How we work

As a Stockbroker’s our job is to manage and administrate financial portfolios. We do this for individuals, companies, trusts, charities and many other legal entities.

There are three core ways we can manage funds for you;

  • Leave the hard work to us – Discretionary
  • Work alongside us and receive help and guidance as and when you like – Advisory managed
  • Choose your own investments and let us help you achieve the best outcome – Execution only

Our main channel of dealing is via the phone, you will have your own dedicated stockbroker who has immediate access to the markets and can deal for you instantly. We also have an in house administration department who are on hand to help answer your question if non market related.

Being our own custodian we can offer a variety of options, nominee, safe custody and certificated dealing. We manage income payments on a bespoke basis, provide statements and administer all corporate actions (unless certificated). We don’t have a monthly account fee nor do we charge for every dividend/income payment like many others in the industry.       The company that became Arnold Stansby & Co was established in the 1870s in Manchester, England, and bore the trading name A & JJ Arnold.

    • 1920s

      The Stansby family became involved in the 1920s when the firm became known as Arnold Stansby & Co.

      The father of current owners Jeremy and Nicholas Stockton started working for Arnold Stansby in 1939, the start of a continuous family connection lasting almost 80 years to date.

    • 1950s & 1960s

      In the 1950s and 1960s the firm was involved in a number of mergers and was known by some different names, including Arnold Coppock & Kaye. The name Arnold has been constant throughout the history of the firm, which reverted to its present name in the 1960s, with the Stansby family involved for another decade.

      In the late 1950s and through the 1960s Arnold Stansby & Co was one of Manchester’s largest firms, with addition to private client work also undertaking corporate work. The firm decided to concentrate on private client work, with the emphasis on individual and personal service, and specifically to remain independent.
